Our Annual General Meeting was held December 4th which featured Rhonda Teitel-Payne, Urban Agriculture Manager of the Stop Community Food Centre, who spoke on the health, environmental and social implications of access to nutritious food.

We negotiated a special discount price for members for tickets to the November One of a Kind Show, held at Exhibition Place in Toronto. This offer was extended to members across the province.

On June 29th, OASW Central Ontario Branch members, staff and Board representatives participated in the 2008 Pride Parade. This year's theme was Unified. Pride Week is Canada's largest celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, intersex, queer/questioning and two-spirited peoples, and is one of the leading cultural events of its kind in the world. The Toronto parade, the culmination of Pride Week, draws close to 1 million people. For the sixth year running, we arranged the OASW Day With The Jays! for our members, and extended the offer for discounted Blue Jays tickets to all OASW Branches across the province. This year's game was attended by more than 100 OASW members, friends and family.

Upcoming Branch Initiatives

We are in discussions with the Toronto Raptors to negotiate a discount for members on tickets to an upcoming basketball game.
