Health and Dental: Discounted program available to OASW members. Choose from eight combinations of coverage in the areas of prescription drugs, dental care, vision care and extended health benefits including the services of social workers. Benefit from better choice, excellent claims support and personalized service.

Life, Disability and Critical Illness Coverage: OASW members can choose from a number of flexible, competitively priced and personalized insurance coverages designed to provide much needed financial protection for themselves and loved ones in the event of an unforeseen accident, illness or premature death.

Out of Province Travel Insurance for OASW Members: Get exclusive discounted rates for travel insurance. This benefit offers $5 million coverage for emergency medical and hospital costs, even with pre-existing health problems. Buy an annual plan so that you can travel as many times as you want.

Professional Liability: Comprehensive plan protects against malpractice, error or mistake by a social worker in the course of regular duties. Annual premiums of $125 for claims of up to $2 million dollars and disciplinary defence coverage (up to $150,000), as well as premise liability coverage from injury or property damage caused by acts of a non-professional nature. For professional liability coverage only: $95. Additional features available. In addition, access to free confidential legal advice on questions regarding potential civil claims or disciplinary complaints. (Many companies do not provide this insurance and where provided, the most basic coverage costs $700 without some extras offered by this plan.) Please note that you need to join OASW before you can obtain the discount on liability insurance.

PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES

Toronto Advanced Professional Education: OASW members receive discounts off all certificate programs and courses - innovative, hands-on learning opportunities for those working in the human services, education, family law and health care professions.

University of Toronto Faculty of Social Work Continuing Education: OASW members receive discounts on workshops and certificate programs featuring a variety of topics (e.g., cybercounselling).

Web Seminars: OASW members have access to free web events and discounted workshops presented by the American Society on Aging. As well, OASW members received an introductory 20% discount off regular subscriptions rates of Generations (quarterly journal) and Aging Today (bimonthly newspaper), and a 15% discount on other education resources.

Books: OASW members receive a 10% discount on books distributed by Canadian Scholars' Press Inc.

CAMH Resources: OASW members receive discounts as part of Partnership Program with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health for resources in counselling, reference & periodicals, clinical tools, programs & program evaluation, policy & development, and public education.

Publications: OASW members can subscribe to International Social Work at a special 25% discount. ISW is a scholarly refereed journal designed to extend knowledge and promote communication in the fields of social development, social welfare and human services.

GoodLife Fitness Clubs: OASW members and their significant other/spouse are entitled to join the OASW Corporate Wellness Program with GoodLife Fitness Clubs for $425 per year. GoodLife Fitness Clubs is the largest fitness provider in Canada with more than 50 clubs in Ontario alone.

Curves Fitness Clubs: OASW members who join their local Curves fitness club can save 60% on the “one-time” service/initiation fee. Curves provides a complete cardio and strength-training workout in just 30 minutes, burning up to 500 calories at a time. (Please note that Curves is a women-only fitness club.) Monthly dues vary from club to club.
