Health and Dental: New discounted Liberty Health program available to OASW members. Choose from eight combinations of coverage in the areas of prescription drugs, dental care, vision care and extended health benefits including the services of social workers. Life, Disability and Critical Illness Coverage: OASW members can choose from a number of flexible, competitively priced and personalized insurance coverages designed to provide much needed financial protection for themselves and loved ones in the event of an unforeseen accident, illness or premature death.
Professional Liability: Comprehensive plan protects against malpractice, error or mistake by a social worker in the course of regular duties. Annual premiums of $160 for claims of up to $2 million dollars and disciplinary defence coverage ($1,000 deductible with a limit of $25,000), as well as premise liability coverage from injury or property damage caused by acts of a non-professional nature. For professional liability coverage only: $100. Additional features available. In addition, access to free confidential legal advice on questions regarding potential civil claims or disciplinary complaints. (Many companies do not provide this insurance and where provided, the most basic coverage costs $700 without some extras offered by this plan.)
