In keeping with our mandate and values as a profession, the following is a sampling of some of OASW's initiatives over the past year in support of:

Human Rights

• Enhanced accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities
• Access to affordable and adequate housing
• Abolition of physical punishment of children and youth

Issues Impacting on Children and Families

• Implementation of Poverty Reduction Strategy by Ontario Government
• Ongoing and new initiatives to address issues impacting on at-risk children and youth
• Support for better access to services by First Nations children, e.g., Jordan 's Principle
• Full engagement in making decisions for healthy lives

Accessible Health Care

• Access to a comprehensive and fully accessible health care system
• Strengthening the availability and accessibility of an integrated mental health care system
