Recent Branch Initiatives
Social Work Week
A small but enthusiastic group of us gathered on March 7/13
to share a pizza dinner, get to know more about each other and to
have a conversation with Sara Peddle about the David Busby Centre
in Barrie and the Under One Roof project. Sara informed us
about the services provided by the centre to thousands of people a
year. Individuals using the centre have access to 3 full time
case managers to help address concerns, a nurse practitioner from
the VON, as well as support people from CMHA, Ontario Works and
housing. The centre also has a mobile outreach team who offer
immediate assistance on the street and to help individuals to
access shelters.
Winners of the draw prizes for posting a comment about how they
or their organization help to restore the hope of the people they
serve were Linda Gerry from Barrie, Lauren Power from Bracebridge
and Sheila McKinnon-Oke from Jackson's Point. Thanks to all
who participated!
