Marlene Dei-Amoah

Marlene Dei-Amoah, MSW, RSW, has been a member of OASW since 2004 and is elated to be joining OASW’s Board of Directors. Marlene holds an MSW from Wilfrid Laurier University and a BSW from McMaster University. Marlene has concentrated her social work career in the field of Child Welfare and is currently a Service Director at the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton. Marlene’s portfolio includes the development of an organizational strategy for the implementation of equity, diversity and inclusion. Marlene is a provincial equity facilitator for the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies (OACAS) and a long-standing member of the Anti-Oppression Roundtable. More recently, Marlene was appointed to OASW’s Equity Integration Advisory Group in 2020.

Marlene is involved within her community through an appointment by City Council to participate as a member of the City of Hamilton Committee Against Racism since 2012, including fulfilling the role of the Chair from 2017 to 2021. Marlene was instrumental is advocating for Hamilton’s Anti-Racism Resource Centre (HARRC), which was established in 2018. Marlene is also a sessional faculty member teaching in the Master of Social Work, Critical Leadership in Social Science and Communities Programme at McMaster University.

Marlene’s strengths and passion are ignited when she is facilitating courageous conversations centering on equity or coaching and mentoring diverse staff to believe not only in their capacity to become leaders, but to flourish in each leadership opportunity.

Marlene is excited to be working alongside such a skilled and diverse Board and is looking forward to bringing her energy and strong leadership skills to amplifying the voice of social work professionals.
