Additional Information

Purpose: OASW’s Board of Directors sets the Association’s policies and strategic directions, ensures that the organization stays on course to fulfil its mission, and advises the organization on issues affecting the social work profession and the public at the provincial level. Additionally, Board members serve on committees, advisory groups and working groups.

Board Composition: Composed of 14 OASW members (5 Executive Officers, 7 Directors at Large, 1 Francophone Director and 1 Student Director), the Board has staggered terms of office so that not all positions are up for election at the same time.

Executive Committee: The President, two Vice-Presidents, Treasurer-Secretary and Past President comprise the Executive Committee, which is appointed by the Board annually.

Meetings: Board meetings take place three or more times annually. Two of the meetings are usually held in person over a weekend in Toronto, while the others are virtual. Board members are expected to prepare for and attend all meetings. In addition, Directors serve as Board Liaisons on one or two Committees/Advisory Groups and attend 4-6 meetings annually for each committee.

Eligibility: All OASW members who are Registered Social Workers (RSW) are eligible for nomination. OASW encourages nominations of all qualified individuals and is committed to diversity and inclusivity.
