PRIDE 2019 Parade
3 DAYS and COUNTING to PRIDE 2019!!!

We had our PRIDE 2019 committee meeting last evening at the Aeolian Hall. Wow! what a great turn out, the room was full of eager people who are representing approximately 200 groups who will be in the parade this sunday.

Start Time: 12:30 PM (Rain or Shine) - Ending Approximately 2:30 PM  @ Victoria Park.

We have our OASW banner - We need volunteers to take turns marching it along the parade route—Western Fair Grounds to Victoria Park.

We have a place to park - Please park in front of the Western Fair Casino off  Wortley—anyplace in that area is fine.

We have a place in the parade - We are position E11.

We have permission to travel the route with our vehicle - We just bring the vehicle to the race track and follow the red route sign to our position by 11:00 AM.

Remember to bring:
Water (provided)
Sunscreen (provided)
Wear your OASW t-shirt (extras available upon request)
A hat too! (please bring your own hat)

There will be port-a-potties at the Western Fair Grounds and Victoria Park
While handing out bookmarks and candy keep walking pace so the parade will travel smoothly.

Keep your Pride and Goodwill and Smiles (There may be some protestors but just be your best and keep going especially for Rogers TV who will announce us as we round the corner of Dufferin and Wellington).

Check your calendars and let me know that you will be joining us for PRIDE 2019.

RSVP to me by email, text or phone 519-330-3357

I will be arriving at the Western Fair Grounds at 10:30 AM to check out our position and welcome all who are able to join us for the event.

Looking forward to celebrating OASW and PRIDE 2019 with YOU!

Best wishes,

Dr. Anne Toth, RSW, on behalf of Western Branch and Sarnia Chapter

Celebrating Advocacy: The 35th anniversary of the founding of Ontario social work's first regulatory college—October 21, 2017

Members of the Western Branch of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and graduates of social work programs at King’s University College celebrated one of our Association's greatest advocacy efforts: the achievement of legislation to govern social work practice and the founding of our first college of social workers, an important milestone along the way to that achievement.

Dr. Dan Andreae, Past President of OASW (1993-2000, 2006-8), Director of Project Legislation (1989-93) and a major driving force behind the lengthy campaign to achieve legislation, was the guest speaker.
He and Branch President Tammie Ross unveiled a new commemorative plaque, now located in the offices of the School of Social Work at King’s.

Single Session Therapy workshop with Scot Cooper was hosted by Daya Counselling Centre on June 26 & 27.

The two day workshop provided both an introduction to single session conversations and  covered advanced practice related to addressing the experience of trauma in a single session.
