"If We Don't See Social Workers as Experts, Who Will?"

Research confirms, the value of social workers is not well understood.  With government funding dollars under pressure, understanding the value of social workers, and seeing them as a vital and relevant resource, is critical to the long-term success and growth of the profession.  It is equally vital that the public see social workers as relevant to them and consider them an expert resource.

In her presentation, Gabby Nobrega, a communications and marketing consultant, who helped shape OASW’s current marketing campaign to change the public perception of social workers, will talk about the underpinnings of OASW’s campaign – how the messages were chosen, who the campaign seeks to influence and why it is vital that not only the public, but also social workers, change how we think about what we do and why that matters.
