Dr. Marilyn Herie, MSW, PhD, RSW, is recognized for her expertise in the use of technology in social work education and practice. In her work with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the University of Toronto, Dr. Herie incorporates distributed learning and social media in reaching professionals from across Canada and from over 15 disciplines. Also, she has engaged in research and education focused on online clinical education in social work, teaching a Masters­level online addictions in MSW course for nearly 10 years. She is Director of the TEACH Project, a University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine Certificate Program in Cessation Counselling at CAMH. Marilyn is also Director of the University of Toronto’s Collaborative Program in Addiction Studies and Assistant Professor (status only) at the Factor­Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at U. of T. 

This dynamic, interactive presentation will examine key and cutting­edge communication tools. These will include social media (blogging, social networking and video­sharing); cloud­based and distributed meeting, learning and collaboration platforms (virtual meetings, tele­social work, online learning); and e­therapy. At the end of the session, as one of several primary learning objectives, you will access resources and tips for using digital communications tools to their full potential.
