"From Circus Lesson to Life Lesson: Circus, Arts & Creativity - Accelerators for Social Development"
Emmanuel Bochud, who is Team Leader for Programs and Partnerships at Cirque du Soleil's Cirque du Monde, presented the Cirque du Monde model and provided concrete examples on how to implement this innovative program in work with diverse groups of youth and young adults. He spoke about the use of creativity as a powerful tool in sparking personal and social change using circus arts as both education and intervention.
Cirque du Monde is an innovative social intervention approach, "social circus", based on circus arts, which targets at-risk youth and is able to reach marginalized populations otherwise difficult for the health systems to reach. Interventions incorporating arts forms foster participants' socialization, social skills, self-esteem, self-expression and self confidence.
Since its creation, the Cirque du Monde program has been established in more than 80 communities around the world in partnership with many local community organizations recognized in their region for the quality of their work with young people.
