OASW’s Response to the 2017 Pre-Budget Consultations

OASW’s Response to the 2017 Pre-Budget Consultations addresses two major issues: Poverty Reduction and Health Care Transformation with an Emphasis on Primary Care & Home and Community Care.

In the response, OASW made the following recommendations:
• Invest $1 billion in social assistance in Budget 2017.
• Reform the healthcare system to better utilize non-medical professionals to work within their scope of knowledge and skills.
• Increase base funding by 2% for home and community care agencies.
• Increase to 6% home care funding relative to the total health care budget.
