Jocelyn Hunt (she/her) MSW, RSW is a Social Worker and award-winning
Gerontologist with more than 20 years of experience in accessibility, aging,
mental health, policy and research.
Jocelyn proudly identifies as a disabled social worker and is passionate
about advancing accessibility within our profession. Leveraging a lifetime of
lived experience as a person with a limb difference, she brings adaptive
insights and considerations for social work practice.
Her clinical experience includes roles at Peterborough Regional Health
Centre, where she provided psychosocial care in paediatric oncology and
inpatient medicine, and at the Parry Sound Family Health Team, where she
delivered evidence-based mental health interventions and supported
patients with chronic health conditions and neurocognitive disabilities
through Memory Clinic services.
She has held roles as a dementia care educator, training staff and care
partners across North America.
She has supported accessibility and
age-friendly initiatives alongside various levels of government, as well as
contributing to dementia-inclusive practice guidelines and advocacy work
with international reach. Her leadership and experience working across a
variety of health care sectors is a strength she hopes to contribute to
OASW and its membership.
She currently provides counselling and psychotherapy through Able Mental
Health, specializing in support for individuals and families living with
disabilities - including amputee and limb difference mental health.
She serves on OASW’s Equity Integration Advisory Group as well, with
goals to increase representation of social workers who live with disabilities
and foster more opportunities for meaningful engagement related to
disability and social work.
